Welcome

Welcome to Nature for The Community. We are professional consultants with a long involvement in nature conservation, and we aim to use the knowledge we have built up along the way to help you with your community nature projects. This could be:
-   practical help getting volunteers involved
-   running training days
-   natural history workshops
-   help with management plans
-   identification skills such as plants
-   nature surveys and much more.
Please have a browse of the site to get a better idea of who we are and what we do. We are based in London and work within this area.

Dave’s Wildlife blog – July 2012

We continue to work as volunteers supporting conservation and public events in Camden’s nature reserves. We are delighted that the revised managment plans we produced for LB Camden are now being used to steer work at Adelaide, Belsize & Westbere Copse Local Nature Reserves.

Dave’s Wildlife blog – June 2012

This was a month of improving identification skills with two more Field Studies Council courses. A Grasses course was an opportunity to come to grips with this undersurveyed but fascinating group. A Tree course deepened my knowledge of identifying these species.

Highlight of this month was attending a superb Field Studies Course on Wildlife Photography in Pembrokeshire. I added greatly to my skills in this area this week. The photo shows an obliging frog that acted as a photographic subject for us.

We also enjoyed running a Dawn Chorus event for the Friends of Fortune Green in West Hampstead. Best bird was a Wood Warbler. These are scarce but not unknown in London.

Dave’s Wildlife blog – April 2012

Enjoyed our annual Spring holiday in Andalucia – 11th succesive year. Myself and my wife Alison stay in Ronda and explore the countryside to enjoy its bird and plant life. Photo shows an orchid – very common here. This is a hot spot for all types of wildlife with many endemics.

Dave’s Wildlife blog – March 2012

Enjoyed a fascinating lecture on Red Kites presented by the London Natural History Society at Camley Street on the 22nd. A great reintroduction story – look forward to seeing these iconic birds over London eventually.
